Inside the Earth
Inner Core
The inner core is the centre of the earth; it is made up of iron and nickel compounds that are solid due to extreme heat and pressure. The temperature (Celsius) is from 5 000 degrees to 7 000 degrees Outer Core The second to the middle of the Earth; the temperature (Celsius) ranges from 4 000 degrees to 5 000 degrees. The outer core is the only liquid layer because extreme heat makes the iron and nickel melt but the pressure is not high enough to solidify the liquid. The Crust In the the Earth's crust, temperatures (Celsius) range form 200 degrees to 400 degrees. The crust is the outer layer of the earth in which we live on. The crust is made from rocks minerals and crystals. |
Plate Tectonics Theory
Pangea
Pangea was a super continent that was formed about 700 million years ago, when dinosaurs ruled the land. The pieces of Pangea were scattered because of the course of movement over the centuries; the pieces we now know as our continents. If we rearrange the continents, they fit into each other like a broken vases pieces would, some big some small. Many of the same fossil species have been found on lands that are girt by water, these animals and plants would have drowned or died trying to get across. Earthquakes have followed a specific line in which they occur. The earthquakes occured on the boundaries of the plates. This discovery were made by the teams of the Cold War. |
